Ladies League

The temperature was warm, finally!!  94 F - can you believe it? May 31 and we reach that temperature. It goes from 54 F to 94... crazy.  We went golfing all together today and enjoyed a nice evening. Melinda wasn't able to join us unfortunately.  On the first hole Teresa and I spotted this turtle trying to cross the fairway.

The blackflies were bad (again) and they seemed attracted to me. I got lots of bites and I'm thankful that Claudia sprayed bug spray on me..  Oh well, it was still fun.

Woodington Lake Golf

After a busy morning at church clean up - we headed off to Woodington Lake Golf course for a rivetting round of golf.  The bug's were bad and the course was "WET" but we still had a fun time.  I came home with so many bug bits (especially black flies).   Our scores were "high" but we still had a lot of fun.  The course had a special that allowed us to golf this past weekend and play another round for free in July or August.  A great deal.

Tornado in Missouri

Please pray for the families in Missouri who experienced the loss of so many family members and homes when the tornado struck around dinner time yesterday.  Over 116  lives were taken and so many homes were destroyed.  How sad.

Forget me not!

Don't you love spring!!

So nice to have sunshine

We woke up early on Saturday morning. Ralph was up much earlier than I was, but he had big plans for the day.  He took Oakley for a nice long walk, scrubbed the deck and got that all clean and this was all before 7:00 a.m.  We then drove to Bloor West Village and did a quick grocery shop and then headed to John and Grace's store where we purchased a birthday present for my Mom.  Then it was back home and into the gardens!  I cleaned out 3 gardens, another  6 to go.  I guess it will take me a few more days.  I plan to work on it again on Monday.

In the afternoon we went golfing at Tangle Creek Golf Course in Thornton.  That was quite the challenging course, but we all perservered and had a lot of fun.

It was such a beautiful day and we have so much to be thankful for after all the rain.  I look forward to a few more weekends with this type of weather.

How fast the blooms go

Sadly with the weather we have been having, the Magnolia tree had no chance of keeping it's flowers.  In full bloom on Saturday, May 14, most of the flowers were gone by Monday.  With all the rain we have been having, it didn't have a chance to stay beautiful.

On Saturday we shared in the wedding of Michelle VanTol and Rik Jansen.  While the sky's were great and dreary, the wedding was beautiful.  Michelle was radient and Rik so calm.  It was a beautiful day.   Janette and Bob were so happy and it was such a nice day all together.  Congratulations..

Ladies night out

What a beautiful evening it was.  It seemed to get warmer as we golfed.  The pace was a bit slow but that was ok.  We were able to get 13 holes in tonight and we all played a good game.  It was nice to share prizes from last week.  Grace and Arja each got a sleeve of balls and Teresa and I got a new Callaway towel.  We all had a fun time.  It's nice to see that we all play very similar games and can keep up with each other.  These are fun evenings all together.

Learning to skip

Every time we see the girls, we come to the conclusion that they are growing up so fast.  Today Jordan was sharing with us that she was learing to skip.  She was having so much fun.  It was so cute to see the excitement on her face as she was showing us how she was progressing.

Surprise!

What a nice surprise, Laura and Jay and the girls came down for the day for "Mothers Day".  How nice.  I wasn't expecting to see them this weekend so I was pleasantly surprised. I love it when the whole family is tonight and the visits are always alot of fun.  We were able to do some planning for our August trip and we booked the Hampton for our drive down. We chose the "prepay" option and got a great rate for the night at $68.00 plus tax. We plan to drive to Winston-Salem on the first day and that way we'll only have about 4 hours of driving for the next day.

Poor Hailey wasn't feeling well today.  She has been off for the last couple of weeks.  Today she was complaining about a sore ear.  Laura is planning on taking her to the clinic when they get home.

Laura made a cake for us to eat - it was amazing.  She decorated it with Fondant that she made herself and the cake was "rainbow" which was selected by Jordan. It was so moist amd delicious.  Thank you for spoiling me.

Bloor West Village

What a beautiful day today! Ralph suggested that we go to Bloor West Village this morning.  He wanted to treat me to a new outfit for "Mothers Day".  My favourite store "Caleche" is in Bloor West Village so off we went.  We had fun shopping, although I found he was in a bit of a rush. I thought it would be nice to look for a new shirt for him, but we didn't have time.  We got a coffee at Starbucks and bought some vegetables but then he wanted to go home.  I thought it was a little odd as he usually loves to browse the shops.

Much to my surprise, about 5 minutes after we got home Laura and Jay arrived with the girls.  He was trying to keep it a secret but also wanted to make sure that we were home in time to enjoy a nice visit with them.  What a wonderful surprise for  "Mothers Day".  I love it when the whole family is together. We had such a wonderful day all together.  I love my family.

Happy Mothers Day Mom

On Friday evening after work we to visit Mom for Mother's Day.  Knowing that most of the family will want to visit with her this weekend, we thought Friday night might work out nicely.  What a pleasant surprise to see that Marian and Harry and Teresa and Lawrence were also visiting.  We had a really nice visit all together. What a blessing my Mother is to our family.  She always has a smile on her face and has a wonderful sense of humour.  We love our visits and are so thankful that both Mom and Dad are still in such good health.  We thank God every day for you Mom (and Dad too).We hope you have a wonderful "Mothers Day".

Wooo Whoooo

Today we met as a Golf Committee from Timothy Christian School at Glen Eagle to finalize plans for the golf tournament.  It was a beautiful day and we were able to play golf as a group of 5.  How nice!  We all were having a lot of fun and playing quite well.  I surprised myself and played a really good game.  For the 9 holes that we played, I par'd 5 of them. I was so happy - I haven't ever played a game like this.  I finished my round with a 46 - an all time best for me.  Everyone had fun and we're all excited about the upcoming golf tournament. I know that God will bless us richly in this event!

First day of ladies league

Looking out of the window, I utter a deep sigh.  Will this rain ever stop?  I'm not optimistic that we'll get a round of golf in today.  I wait and wait and wait to see if it's going to stop.  A drizzle, hmm, maybe it's starting to clear?  I called Grace, Arja, Teresa and Melinda.  So what do you think?  Should we give it a try?  Why not was the response.  Melinda decided not to go, we understand perfectly - who would want to golf in this weather!  We met at the course at 5:00 p.m.  Yes, Ladies League is on and yes, you are free to go out!  How many other women have tee'd off ahead of us we ask?  No one.  No one??  Hmm, is it possible that we are the only ones crazy enough to give it a try?  It would appear so.  The rain has mostly stopped, more of a fine mist now, so we're ready to go.  It did rain on and off while we were out on the course, but nothing bad enough to stop us.  There was a few competitions, that the four of us were playing for... closest to the pin, longest drive, secret hole and I think best score.  Hopefully they will divide the prizes amongst us all as we were all troopers to give it a try.  It was fun! Wet, but fun!  We were looking forward to  a nice warm drink when we got back, but everything was closed, so off we went to Tim Hortons on Highway 400.  We enjoyed a light dinner and recalled the highlights of our game.  It was a nice first night out!

Rain, rain, go away

Sigh.....it's raining again. Will it ever end. We are supposed to golfing with the girls in the ladies league. I wonder if we will be able to do so??

Copper Creek Day 2

It's hard to believe, but Saturday is supposed to be a nice day.  Surprising given all the rain that we have been experiencing lately.  We met at the golf course around 11:00 and took some time to hit balls and practice a little putting.

The golf was great, the scores ok, but we had a great time!  It's so nice to be able to enjoy this time all together.
