Arizona.... here we come

The weather forecast is promising.... in the mid 80's everyday.  It's vacation time and we are heading to Arizona with Lawrence and Teresa. We'll be leaving tomorrow around 3:30 for Buffalo where we'll catch our flight early Friday morning.  I'm looking forward to a few days away enjoying the sunshine, warm temperatures and of course some fun rounds of golf!

Golfing at Innisbrook

On Saturday we golfed at Innisbrook in the outskirts of Barrie.  It's a nice short course with many par 3's.  The weather was ok - chilly and it started to rain by the end of the round.  That's ok though, as we had fun all together and then enjoyed a nice bowl of chilli afterwards.  I think this will be the last round of golf in Ontario for this season.

This is where I was standing when I eagled this hole!  Yes an Eagle - I was so thrilled. I hit the ball and it flew.... I was sure it was going to run right off the green but instead it hit the pin and went into the hole.  This was on the 18th hole.  I nice way to finish the round.  We all played well with everyone breaking 100.  Grace and Teresa shot 94, I shot 84, Ralph and John 82 and Lawrence 86.  Way to end the season everyone!!!

Not much longer

It won't be much longer before we leave for Arizona.  We've been watching the weather to see what to expect and the days are looking pretty good.  We'll be hot air balloon riding on Saturday November 2.  I'm happy to see that the low is only going to be 63 and not 52 as they had warned it could be.  Lets hope that it doesn't change much before we get there.   Hmmm, what to pack now?  Do I have too many warm clothes?  Probably  not as I've been watching the temperatures throughout the day and it's cool in the morning and warm right through into the evening.  I can't wait!!  6 more sleeps.

Rainbow at Tollendale

Last week, I took my father to the see the doctor.  It was a good visit and the doctor was pleased with how Dad was doing.  We all felt so good after hearing that.  When we got home, we were blessed with the most beautiful rainbow.  It was God's way of reminding us of his covenant that he has made with us.

Happy Thanksgiving

I've been a bit behind in my blog and my friend Claudia reminded me that it was time for some more updates so here I go!

We spent a quiet weekend for Thanksgiving doing the usual stuff, golfing, eating and sleeping.  We golfed on Saturday with Teresa and Lawrence in the Niagara area at a course called Thundering Waters.  It's a John Daley designed course with lots of long rolling holes.  It was a windy and cool day, but we still had fun. I'd love to play this course again on a nice summer day to see if I would play it better.  I discovered when we got there that I had grabbed the wrong shoe bag (much to my chagrin) and had taken a pair of Ralph's shoes instead of mine.  That's the 2nd time this summer that I have arrived at a course without shoes.  I have quite a selection now at home.

On Thanksgiving day, we enjoyed a nice dinner with Teresa and Lawrence. We prepared a smoked, brined turkey which melted in your mouth. It was brined in apple cider and was cooked with bacon surrounding it. We also made roasted vegetables (brussel sprouts, carrots and beets) which also tasted delicious.  The potatoes were scallopped with aged gruyere cheese.  It was a lot of work, but well worth it.  The best part.... we had left overs and I didn't have to cook for a couple of days.
