Cycling - Veledrome - Pan Am Games

On Friday, Ralph, Jay and Fred went to see the cycling at the Veledrome in Milton.  This was a preliminary round.  They had good seats with a great view of the track.  They really enjoyed the day.

Pan Am Games - Tennis

The day started out warm and muggy.  I had hopes that the weather would improve by the time the tennis matches were ready to start.  Unfortunately that didn't happen.  The first rain delay was announced at 10:15 and these delays continued until almost 4:30 in the afternoon.  Sadly this was a work event that I was attending.  We enjoyed a nice lunch together but by 3:15 most of the people were frustrated and decided to head home.  Myself and two other woman that I work with decided to stay and see if any tennis would take place.  They make it very clear that your ticket will not be refunded if they are able to run the event on the same day even though it's at a later time.  It might be the "dutch" in me, not wanting to loose my ticket, but I also truly wanted to see a few of the matches.  I wasn't disappointed.  By 4:00 p.m. the first game finally started.  It was a woman's single match with Canada competing against Mexico.  What amazing athletes these girls are.  This was a quarter final.  Mexico won this match.

I also watched the Men's singles and Woman's doubles as well.  We got rained out again at around 7:30 so I wasn't able to see the mixed doubles.  Oh well, I really enjoyed what I was able to see.

10 Meter Diving - Pan Am Games

Today we had an opportunity to go to the Pan Am games.  We had purchased tickets to see diving.  We weren't too sure what to expect.  The event that we went to see was the 10 Meter diving.  It was amazing.  There were 8 competitors.  It was only the one event and was finished in an hour. We were disappointed that there wasn't more, but we were thrilled that we could witness this event. It was amazing.  At the end of this preliminary round, Canada was in first and fourth place.  They did awesome!

It was fun to see the divers arrive. They were so excited to be cheered on by the crowd.

There was 5 sets of dives that took place.  Each girl performed dives of varying levels of difficulty.  There was so many twists and turns.  It was amazing at how athletic these competitors were.  I never realized how much gymnastics went into diving.  Unbelievable!!

One diver missed her rotation and almost did a "back flop".  It was frightening to see her go down.  She was so brave and climbed right back up and her next dive was incredible.
