A blanket of snow

The past couple of days it has been snowing.  At times it has been very wet snow, but none the less enough to blanket us with lots of snow.  When I woke up this morning - it looked so pretty outside.  These days, it's dark when I get up and dark when I get home so my pictures are a little darker than I would have preferred.  On purpose I stayed home a little later just to get a few without the flash.

Clam bake 2013

Some of you may know that we are planning a golfing trip to PEI this summer.  To keep plans going, we decided to host a clam bake with the other couples going.  What a nice way to break up the winter and start thinking about our golfing season.

Two weeks before the clam bake, Ralph and I started exploring Bowrings "clearance tables" in the hopes of finding reasonably priced items that might help make the house more festive for this event.  What fun we had driving through a blizzard going from one Bowring to another.  We were pretty successful in finding some interesting things.

Coming to an end

Sadly our vacation is coming to an end.  We spent the last couple of days in St. Augustine and left after two rounds of golf today. We played the Slammer & Squire and the The Club of South Hampton today.  Both were nice golf courses and it was a nice way to end our vacation.  After completing golf we drove north to Rock Hill, SC.  We enjoyed some nice meals while in St. Augustine eating at The Raintree restaurant and also at the Fish market here in Rock Hill.

Tomorrow we plan to drive to Grove City where we plan to do some shopping and spend the evening.  We'll then come home on Wednesday.

Squeezing another round in

Since Lawrence and Teresa aren't flying out until 6:45 this evening we decided to get another round of golf in.  We were able to get an early morning tee-time at ChampionsGate in Orlanda.  What a beautiful course (Links style) complimented by the service of the people working there.  While at the driving range - my Sand Wedge broke - right in half as I was hitting it warming up.  With the club in the air (above my head) I heard a splintering noise and felt my club hit my head as it fell to the ground.  I went to the pro shop and asked if I could borrow a wedge explainig what had happened.  They offered to fix my club and return it to my while golfing on the course while providing me with a loaner.  They came out to see me two times while on the course giving me a status of the repair and subsequently delivering the fixed club.  Needless to say I was very impressed.  The golf was fun and we all enjoyed ourselves.  We saw lots of hawks and osprey at this course.  It sure was nice to enjoy the sunshine all together.  After a glass of wine - Lawrence and Teresa headed to the airport while John, Grace, Ralph and I headed towards St. Augustine.  We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Le Pavillone this evening and plan to relax for the next day.  Golf is planned for Monday again and then we'll put the truck north and head for home.  We plan to spend the evening in Rockport - South Carolina on Monday and in Grove City on Tuesday.  We'll be back in the city on Wednesday again.  At the restaurant (where the food was amazing) they were selling pottery made by a local artist. It was really beautiful and Grace and I both bought lovely pieces for a really cheap price.  We were amazed!!

Sadly the week is slowing drawing to a close.  To celebrate the week - we planned dinner at Bern's Steakhouse.  Teresa and Lawrence haven't been here before and we thought it might be a nice treat.  Ralph booked golf at Eaglebrook Golf Club in Lakeland.  What a beautiful course. There were so many Osprey's at this course and we were surrounded by different birds.  We all really enjoyed ourselves.  Dinner was amazing. Bern's never disappoints.  We thoroughly enjoyed our meals all together.

Crooked Cat

It was an early morning for us as we had to be at OCN by 7:15.  We were playing the  Crooked Cat today.  It started as a beautiful morning with the temperature showing 17c.  Crooked Cat is a very challenging course and we certainly felt the cat's claws today. The guys played a 2nd round on Panther Lake while the girls went home to spend some time by the pool and relax.  We enjoyed a nice dinner all together (had to get rid of the leftovers).  It was a fun day.
