Sunset near Binbrook

Yesterday while driving to Harry and Marian's house to celebrate her birthday and their 40th wedding anniversary, we were blessed with the most beautiful sunset.  Ralph and I saw this as a perfect opportunity to practice photographing it.  We were quite happy with the result.

St.Lawrence Market

Early this morning Ralph and I went downtown to the St. Lawrence Market.  It was a typical Saturday morning with many people out and about.  The Market was busy.  The food looked amazing and there was so much variety.  What I realized is that this is the best place to buy cheese, especially if you are looking for different types.  I was so surprised as the difference in prices and plan to purchase my cheeses for Christmas here. The variety was amazing.

We enjoyed browsing the various meat stands and selected a Coconut Curry Lime Flattened chicken to try this week for dinner.  It looks really good.

We drove up along Yonge Street on our way home and stopped along the way at a few shops that caught our interest.  It was  a fun morning.

I've been practicing taking picture's of Christmas ornaments hanging in the tree. I don't have a tree set up yet, but do have a small artificial one in a pot to practice with.

Our last day

Sadly it is our last day in Arizona.  The day started again as an amazingly sunny morning.  I took a nice walk around the property to enjoy the sunshine and warmth for one last day.  After we got the wash going, we drove to a Restaurant called The Breakfast Club.  This was a very popular local restaurant in Old Towne Scottsdale.  The food was out of this world.  We ate out on the patio while many of the locals were waiting in line to sit inside.  I guess it was too cold for them to sit outside.

After breakfast we went back to the condo and finished packing up the truck and folding the towels that we had washed.


On our way to the airport we stopped again in Old Town and visited a local jewellery store to pick up a gift for Mom.  We were at the airport with plenty of time to spare which was nice as we were able to check in our luggage at the Rental car return.  This is such a great thing that they do at the airport.  You don't have to worry about dragging your clubs everywhere with you.

We were able to grab a Starbucks and relax and wait for our plane to leave.  We made a stop in Chicago on our way home and landed in Buffalo around 10:00.  Thankfully Teresa had reserved us a room in Buffalo and we didn't have to worry about driving home.  We enjoyed a relaxing dinner back at the hotel and then finished off the evening by watching Wyatt Erp.  It was a nice way to finish the holiday.

Tegavah - a true desert golf experience

For our last round of golf, we played the Tegavah course.  This was a desert golf course experience.  While we enjoyed ourselves, we all agreed that this wasn't one of our favourite courses.  It was ok, but the overall experience was lacking. 

We still had a lot of fun and enjoyed the beautiful weather.  It was warm while we golfed and for the 6th day in a row there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  We have had the most amazing weather on this vacation.  This morning the temperature was 59F and when we arrived at the golf course it was approximately 50F.  Within a couple of hours the temperatures were up in the 70's and by the time our round was finished it was in the low 80's. 

It's fun to watch the locals at this time of year.  They are dressed with touques on their heads and warm winter coats.  We are walking around in shorts/skirts and t shirts.  Their blood must be aweful thin and they were all telling us that it find it quite cold. 

We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon by doing a bit of shopping and then went back to Gray Hawk for dinner and cocktails around the fire.  What a  nice relaxing way to end the day.

During and after dinner, we were blessed with the most amazing moon as it was rising on the horizon.  We got our cameras and took some pictures to show you what it looked like.  It was awesome.  Unfortunately it was casting off so much light that we were not able to take pictures of the milky way on this trip.

We-Ko-Pa - Roadrunner haven

Today we enjoyed playing a round of golf at We-Ko-Pa.  We've played this course when we were here the last time. It's a beautiful course and we all really enjoyed playing here.  The weather was really great and it became really warm as the day progressed.  While driving here, the temperature changed from 61F to 45F.  It's always much colder in the desert.

While golfing we saw a coyote off to the side at one of the holes.  It was very exciting to see this.  Sadly we didn't get a picture.  The course had many many roadrunners.  They were fun to watch as they scurried about.    I've been looking for a hatclip with a roadrunner on it, but so far have not been successful.

After golf, we asked the guys in the Proshop if they could recommend something nice to do during the afternoon.  They recommended that we drive to Phoenix and drive up to the top of South Mountain and enjoy the view/scenery.  We thought this was a great idea.  Unfortunately in August they had 3 monsoons and the road leading to the top was washed out.  We took another direction and got about halfway up.  It was still nice to see all of Phoenix while relaxing and enjoying the view.

 

For our golf competition - Ralph was the winner once again.  Todays draw was for the person with the most balls on the green in regulation.  Ralph was the winnder again today. It was close with Grace coming in right behind him.  Congratulations Ralph.

 

We enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner tonight at Houstons.  The food was amazing and it tasted so good.
