Homeward bound
The colours were beautiful, I think the tree's are now at their peak.
Brookgreen Gardens
On Saturday we went back to Brookgreen Garden's. This time we wwnt to see the Zoo area and walked around through the Low Country area. What a beautiful park. In the evening we went out for dinner at the Sea Captains house which is right beside our hotel. We took a few pictues outside after dinner as it was one of the first evenings without rain...

Congratulations Ralph
And the winner is - Ralph Helmus.... For the closest the the Pin, Ralph showed us all how well he could do in accuracy and precision by successfully landing on the green 8 times out of a possible 22 holes. As well, he was successful in placing his ball on the green 4 times but was beat out by Grace for the closest to the pin honours.
Great performance Ralph!!
The Pearl West Course
We were up bright and early this morning in anticipation of golfing at the Pearl - West Course which is located in North Carolina. It's about a 40 minute drive and we like to be early. Leaving for breakfast it was surprisingly warm. We decided that it might be better for us to change into something less warm like shorts as we were all dressed in pants, sweater, jackets etc. After finishing breakfast however we noticed a significant change in the temperature and decided that we would stay in pants and sweaters. It's a good thing that we did this as the day got progressively colder. We got to the course with about 40 minutes to spare and were lucky because they let us tee off right away. The people there were really friendly.
This was quite the challenging course - 5 par 5's to play with each green having a significant slope on it so if you didn't hit the green right, your ball would run right off. What fun!
Unfortunately for us it started to pour rain just as were were approaching the 16th hole. We got soaked, but were determined to finish. While the rain and wet conditions affected our overall scores, we still had a lot of fun.
The Closest to the Pin competition was fierce again today. Everyone was determined to get on the green today. There were 5 Par 3's in all so there was still an opportunity to beat Ralph. It was a pretty tense situation. The course got the better of us on 2 Par 3's and then Grace was able to get one to stick. Lawrence came pretty close and Teresa gave a valiant try to out perform us all. In the end Ralph was able to land 2 fine looking shots.
The final scores for the closet to the Pin are:
Ralph - 8
Grace - 5
Teresa - 0
Lawrence - 0
We're looking forward to having another competition next year... Hopefully the weather will be nicer as this week was full of rain and very wet courses...

Blackmoor

The day started out much cooler than we expected but at least it was dry. The course unfortunately was very wet!! So wet that by the end of my game, my feet were soaking.
We had fun though. It's a great course with lots of very challenging holes. We all had a difficult time with the Par 3's and only Ralph was able to get a ball to "stick" and stay on. Lawrence came pretty close today as well. As a result, we only saw 1 point for 4 Par 3's.
After golfing we went to Murrell's Inlet. There is a really neat store called the Farmers Market which specializes in all different kind of cheeses. We stocked up as we thought it might make a nice treat for tomorrow night as we celebrate the end of 5 days of golf.
Tonight we're off to the Caroline Opry. We're looking forward to that. It should be really interesting...
Closes to the Pin scores are as follows:
Ralph - 6
Grace - 4
Teresa - 0
Lawrence - 0
Tomorrow we're off to The Pearl - West Course. This is in North Carolina. We're hoping that it's not quite as wet and that the temperature is a little warmer. It's about 64 degree's now which isn't too bad.

Wednesday - golfing at the Witch

Today was raining, heavy at times and it was cooler. Not to be stopped we headed out to the Witch, which was the course that we were playing today. I would say that the course wasn't in the best of shape, and that is primarily because of all the rain. They aren't able to cut the grass so it was quite long. We still had a lot of fun, but our scores suffered today because of the weather and conditions.
This course had 5 chances for the closest to the Pin. Unfortunately for all of us, the rain affected how well the ball bounced and we all missed the green 4 times. Grace was the only one to get the ball to stick on one green. We're looking forward to some really stiff competition during the next two days from Teresa and Lawrence.
Results for the Closest to the Pin are as follows:

Stayed tuned for more updates. Tomorrow we're at Blackmoore.
We now off to a party hosted by the Condo complex where they thank the golfers for staying with them.

Day 2 - Pawley's Plantation
What an awesome course!! It had a lot of very interesting holes. We certainly enjoyed it here today. The weather was beautiful. Warm turning to hot as the day went on. There was a lot of marsh land around us. This is certainly a course that we would play again.
The 4 par 3 holes were incredibly challenging. 3 of the par 3 holes were over water. It was tough even though the distance wasn't too great. Ralph cleaned up today. His game was bang on and we had a difficult time keeping up to him.
Today's results for the closest to the pin.
Closest to the Pin:
Ralph - 5
Grace - 3
Teresa -0
Lawrence - 0
Tomorrow we're off to the Witch.
