Free dirt...

Yesterday, I noticed this large bag on my driveway beside the wall of the house. Hmmm I thought to myself, that's a nice bag to store all the styrofoam... Then later I thought that it looked pretty heavy so I checked inside. It was full of nice black garden soil. I wonder where it came from and who was missing this nice black loam? So, Ralph and Ron called the company last night and told them that they had delivered the soil to the wrong house. We told them that they needed to come and pick it up. It weighs about a ton and is about 1 yard of soil. I called again today to ask them to come as it is in the way of the work being done. They said we could "keep it" as it costs too much for them to come back and pick it up. So, we worked out a deal with Henderson. One of his workers is going to spread 50% of it over my gardens and he'll take the other 50% home. A win/win for both of us. The only question is - how will he get the 1/2 bag loaded into his truck?

What colour will it be?

We are asked by many.... what colour will your house be when it's all finished. This picture is one that show's what colour we have picked. No this isn't our house - it would have been a major transformation if it was... but just so you have an idea of what the finished product will look like.

Work progresses....

Well today we actually see some cement going on the walls. It's interesting to see all the curious people. When we came home from work last night there were 4 people standing across the street looking at the house. Today they are here bright and early working away. Henderson told me that if all goes well he might be able to put some trim up. We'll see what happens. There is still 1/2 a wall without styrofoam at the back of the house. I guess this is how they work. It seems a bit unorganized to me, but I'm sure that they have a plan..

The work progresses!

Well, things are moving along. It certainly is interesting to see all the curious people slow down and in some cases even stop to see what is going on. So far three of our neighbours have asked Henderson for a quote to do their homes. Tomorrow if everything goes well, they hope to start the next phase of the stucco'ing and that is to apply the first coat of cement. We still have some styrofoam that needs to be added on the back wall and over each of the landings, but it is certainly coming along. Oakley likes to keep a close eye on what is doing on and I've given up trying to keep him out of the front window. Right now, this is his spot to watch as the work is being done. I guess I'm to blame, because in some ways I find it quite funny... How will I ever retrain him once the work is done??

A wonderful weekend!!

Laura and the girls came to visit with us on Friday for the weekend. Jason came on Saturday after he finished work. We had a wonderful time visiting with them. Jordan is busy as ever which is typical for her age. She is so curious and into everything. I'm sure she'll keep Laura busy. Hailey is a little doll and she is a very contented baby. How blessed they are with these two children. It was a fun and busy weekend but we loved every minute of it.

What an amazing process!

I stand in awe watching as Henderson and Jombo work their magic with their trowel and they haven't even started with the cement!! It's amazing how they smooth out the bumps of the styrofoam which is a reflection of how uneven the outside of the house is. It certainly is a work of art. Henderson is full of idea's. Too many idea's sometimes I think, but he's so excited and keeps saying it's going to be a work of art. I guess time will tell. The styrofoam is almost all up and our shed is full of cement so soon we'll see a change.

The walking and water are working!!

Well, I'm happy to report that I have lost a total of 8 lbs so far. I'm very happy about that and hope that I can keep that pace. That's over the period of two weeks which seems pretty fast and I'm sure that it will slow down, but it sure is motivating. I've noticed as well that it helps with better insulin control so there are lots of benefits.
