The work progresses!

Well, things are moving along. It certainly is interesting to see all the curious people slow down and in some cases even stop to see what is going on. So far three of our neighbours have asked Henderson for a quote to do their homes. Tomorrow if everything goes well, they hope to start the next phase of the stucco'ing and that is to apply the first coat of cement. We still have some styrofoam that needs to be added on the back wall and over each of the landings, but it is certainly coming along. Oakley likes to keep a close eye on what is doing on and I've given up trying to keep him out of the front window. Right now, this is his spot to watch as the work is being done. I guess I'm to blame, because in some ways I find it quite funny... How will I ever retrain him once the work is done??

A wonderful weekend!!

Laura and the girls came to visit with us on Friday for the weekend. Jason came on Saturday after he finished work. We had a wonderful time visiting with them. Jordan is busy as ever which is typical for her age. She is so curious and into everything. I'm sure she'll keep Laura busy. Hailey is a little doll and she is a very contented baby. How blessed they are with these two children. It was a fun and busy weekend but we loved every minute of it.

What an amazing process!

I stand in awe watching as Henderson and Jombo work their magic with their trowel and they haven't even started with the cement!! It's amazing how they smooth out the bumps of the styrofoam which is a reflection of how uneven the outside of the house is. It certainly is a work of art. Henderson is full of idea's. Too many idea's sometimes I think, but he's so excited and keeps saying it's going to be a work of art. I guess time will tell. The styrofoam is almost all up and our shed is full of cement so soon we'll see a change.

The walking and water are working!!

Well, I'm happy to report that I have lost a total of 8 lbs so far. I'm very happy about that and hope that I can keep that pace. That's over the period of two weeks which seems pretty fast and I'm sure that it will slow down, but it sure is motivating. I've noticed as well that it helps with better insulin control so there are lots of benefits.

We're getting visitors this weekend!

This weekend Jay and Laura along with Jordan and Hailey are coming to visit. Laura hopes to arrive on Friday morning. We're going to Michelle's shower together in the evening. Jay may have to work on Saturday and if that happens he won't come till Saturday evening. We'll have to make sure we have a good movie to watch all together once the children go down for the evening. I'm very excited and can't wait to see how Hailey has grown and how many new words Jordan has learned.

More styrofoam...

Today was spent putting up more and more styrofoam. Tomorrow they hope to be finished most of this step and then they can start adding trim. We have quite a bit of trim in the backyard right now so they can keep up the pace. It's amazing how many people stop and ask questions. Everyone is so curious to see what it will look like when it's finished. It's really funny to be outside, because it seems like it is snowing. With a trowel, they shave off excess styofoam and smooth out the surface. Small bits of this stuff flies around the house. It's everywhere and you find it in your hair, being tracked into the kitchen etc. I hope I have tolerant and patient neighbours....

Teresa and I went out to the Children's Place today and looked for shower presents. We have one on Friday for Michelle Wilson (Kortleve) and also one for Jessica Vanlunen (Speelman) coming up onthe long weekend. We had so much fun picking out outfits for the babies. I just love that place and the deals are unbelievable. I wish they had a place like this for adults....wouldn't that be fun!! Once we got home, we took Oakley for a nice long walk. I'm tired now, but feel good that we still took the time for the exercise.

My diet progresses as does the house!!

Thanks for your support! I've lost a total of 5 lbs so far. Pretty good eh! I feel good about that. I'm really trying hard and I know that 20 days makes a habit, so it's important that I am diligent with this. So far, so good.

Today, we visited with Marian and Harry to wish them well and to pass along our best wishes to Liz. She graduates this week with her Masters! That is so awesome, we are very proud of her. Marian and Harry leave tomorrow after work to be present at her graduation.

The work has also started on our house. Yep, the styrofoam is being put up and boy it's gonna make a difference on our heating bill. I can't wait till they are a little further. It's going to look awesome.

We took Oakley into the vet today. We were getting worried about him and the vet has confirmed that he has a bladder problem. I can certainly relate!! Anyways, he is on medication to clear it up. Hopefully it works. It is very rare for a male dog to get a bladder infection and I'm sure that he isn't very comfortable. This hopefully will resolve the problem we have been having with his "little" accidents and inability to hold his bladder when he gets excited (sorry Anne and Teresa, I know you've experienced the puddles!!)...

All is well otherwise. Ralph is still pretty sore and very tired. I'm glad that the pressure is off him to work day and night. Now he can pace himself and finish the jobs as he gets time.
