Barefoot - The Dye Course

Today we golfed at the Barefoot Dye Course.  After having a late evening it was difficult to get up this morning, we managed though and got there around 7:30 a.m.  We tee'd off earlier than expected which was nice. and were the first group out.  I must say that this was a very challenging course.  This is where the "After the Masters" Tournament is held each year.  We enjoyed ourselves alot and really liked the course even though it was very difficult.

Today's challenge was to play one hole with "one" club only, which was determined the night before by drawing from a deck of cards.  Lawrence chose the 14th hole for this challenge.  Ralph and Teresa played with their 5 woods while Lawrence and I used a Hybrid. I golfed with a 6 Hybrid and Lawrence used his 5 Hybrid.  The scores were high with 3 of us scoring 8 and Ralph scoring 7.  Hah, hah... it was fun. Congratulations Ralph for winning this challenge.

After we got back to the condo I went out for a walk along the beach.  I photographed the shoreline from the balcony before I went for a walk  You can see how disturbed the sand is. We 're not sure if this needs to be put back onto the beach as it appears very excessive in the shallow areas along the beach.

I had an opportunity to talk to this fisherman I saw as a was walking the beach. He had just successfully caught this "steel head" fish.  He was a catch and release fisherman and let the fish go back into the water.

I also saw this jellyfish along the shore.  While it doesn't look it, this was the size of of a volleyball,  it was quite large.  I only had my small camera with me so I couldn't get a lot of detail.  Ralph thinks it's a Man of War.  The flags on the beach are Red and Blue which means that you have to be cautious of rip currents and animals in the water (sharks and jelly fish).  This is a good reminder of what lurks beneath the surface.  I think I'll stick to walking along the beach and not swimming in the water.

On Wednesday evening we usually have a Golf Social.  It was cancelled this year because so many golfers had cancelled their reservations.  That's too bad as these are usually fun events to go to.  De"Ann gave us tickets for drinks at the bar in the hotel since we were here.  The tickets were for beer only so  Ralph went to our room and brought Teresa and I a drink to enjoy since we don't enjoy beer. while he and Lawrence enjoyed the beer.

We enjoyed dinner at the Carolina Seafood and Steak restaurant.  We spent a quiet evening together and go
t ready for another early game tomorrow at Farmstead.

Dunes Golf and Beach Club

Today we golfed at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.  This was a vey challenging course and we all scored higher than normal.  It was still a fun day but extremely hot and humid.  We saw plenty of birds on the course today, there were lots of Storks on this course which we haven't really observed before.  It was pretty interesting to see them.

Ralph won todays game.  It was a game called Jackpot.  This is a "win" the hole based game although there were many holes that were tied.  In the end Ralph came out on top.

These storks were in front of the ladies tee box.  Ralph captured these pictures as Teresa and I were hitting our shots.

A flock of storks were on the fairway.  Imagine if you ball landed in between them?  Hah Hah!

We weren't sure what bird was guarding this nest.  It looked like an Osprey.

The eighteenth hole.  Right up to the end the challenges kept coming!!

The alligator is the symbol on the logo balls, markers and flags.  They had a really cool bronze statue by the 1st hole.

This afternoon was quiet, we did a little grocery shopping to help prepare for dinner.

I walked the beach in search of shells. and was surprised at how difficult it was to find them today when it was so easy on Sunday.  I found a few but not half as many as before. It was still nice to be out walking and enjoying the sunshine.

We enjoyed Nassi at the condo for dinner and it was so delicious.  We made some extra so that Ralph has dinner for tomorrow. Lawrence, Teresa and I will enjoy some dinner of pizza at the golf social that is hosted by the condo.

After dinner tonight we went to a show called "One" at the Alabama Theatre.  It was a really good show and we all enjoyed it.  It was a nice ending to a beautiful day.

Barefoot Love Course

Today we woke up to a beautiful morning. The weather has been amazing so far.  We went down for breakfast at 6:30 and were on our way to the Barefoot Love golf course by 7:15.  It’s interesting that you are driven to a driving range which is down the road. After hitting a few balls we were ready for our round. It was fun. It was day “2” of our 7 day game ball challenge. I lost two of my 3 game balls already. I only have my Par 4 ball left which will make it challenging to collect many points. Ralph also lost 2 of his game balls and only has his Par 3 ball. Teresa still has two game balls and Lawrence still has 3. Its going to be an interesting week as we progress through the game.  Today we also played Bimgo, Bango, Bongo which is a points based game based on who was first on the green, closest to the pin and in the hole. It was fun and challenging. The course was really nice and challenging.  On the course is this old slave building. It's quite interesting to see.

Ralph was the winner of this game with Teresa coming in 2nd.

We did a little shopping and then relaxed this afternoon and enjoyed a nice dinner at Gordon Biersch. It was a fun and relaxing day.

A day of rest

Today was a day to rest and to reflect on all that God has done for us.  Ralph and I were up early and went outside to take some sunrise photo's.  It was a beautiful morning and a very pretty sunrise.

We went to church this morning and listened to a good sermon and came away refreshed in God's word.

On our way home from church we stopped at The Dunes Golf Course and picked up a scorecard to review the course as we'll be playing there on Tuesday.

The afternoon was spent relaxing.  Teresa and Lawrence enjoyed their time by sitting near the pool and soaking up the sunshine while Ralph took a walk along the beach and I went in search of sea shells.  It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

We enjoyed a nice home cooked dinner together and then went outside to enjoy the sunset.  It really was a beautiful day.
