It's a girl!!

We received a phone call at 6:45 from a very elated "new mother"!! Laura called personally to give us the good news that Hailey Sienna Grace was born this evening at 6:39 pm. She weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz. Laura said that she is beautiful. Laura was able to deliver naturally which is something that she really wanted and she is very happy about this. Jason is very excited about his new daughter. We are so proud of our family and feel so blessed that we now have two granddaughters to cherish. We are truly blessed.

I hope the weather co-operates

As you can see, we've started taking off the siding. Where we can, Ralph has removed the siding, but we can't remove any more until the work is ready to start. There is still lots of work to do, like taking down the deck, taking off the down spouts and facia boards. Most of this will take place on Saturday. Ralph hopes to finish the overhangs this week. Hopefully we won't find too many surprises when the rest of the siding comes off!! As you can see, Ron built a nice box below the Bay Window. This will be trimmed off in Stucco and should look really nice. The overhangs will all be done in Stucco as well. Ralph plans to put some pot lights in the overhangs. It should really be nice when it's all finished.

The renovations are starting again

We've made a decision to Stucco the outside of our house. It's long overdue. Ralph has been so busy trying to get things ready. The biggest problem we face is the weather!! With all the rain that we've been receiving, we can't get all the work done. Fortunately for us, the weather has also restricted "Henderson" from completing his other jobs. Henderson is the contractor that is working with us, so we've had a short delay for which we are thankful. You will see our progress to date on the house. What Ralph is doing is adding additional "overhangs" over our side and sliding glass door at the back of the house. We are also planning to have a new overhang by our front door if Paul is able to free up some time to help us with this.

Taking away some of the wood on the Bay window, we discovered that we have "rot" in some places. I guess you can expect that after so many years. As a result, we ordered a new window which with Ron's help will be very nice. We hope to have this installed sometime this week. The work on the rest of the house should start while I'm visiting with Laura and Jay which works out well. I'll take Oakley with me and then we don't need to worry about him barking all the time because of all the noise outside.

We're expecting a new Grandchild today

Well, today is the day! We've been waiting for our new grandchild for months now and the day has finally arrived. I'm so excited. Ralph is at work, but he check's in periodically to see if I have heard anything. He called Laura and Jay on his way to work to wish them well. Laura wanted to be at the Hospital by 6:00 a.m. this morning. Why does it seem to take so long? I'm not a woman of patience, so I find I'm constantly watching the clock and praying for the baby to be delivered quickly. I worry about Laura and how painful it might be. She is strong, this I know, but at the same time, she is also nervous because of her previous experience with Jordan. I know that the Lord will watch over her. It is all in his timing but I just wish it would go faster. I plan to spend a week with them and will head to St. Thomas on Sunday. I can't wait to hold my new grandchild in my arms and to share this special time with them. It will be fun to see Jordan's reaction to this change in her family.
