Some fun and sunny days - February 3 - 9, 2025

The week started off with beautiful weather.  Our first round was at Shaftesbury Glenn Golf resort.  The course itself is pretty wide open and not one of my favorites.  We did enjoy a nice round however and took advantage of the nice warm day.  It was really weird that while we were at one of the holes we heard all sorts of gun shots.  We thought we might have been close to a shooting range however the ranger told Ralph that it was most likely an individual in the woods just shooting off his gun.  Pretty crazy.

We went back to Sunset Beach on Wednesday and enjoyed watching the eagles.  The baby is growing quickly and jumping all around now in the nest.  So fun to watch.  We also saw a Red Headed duck which apparently is not too common  however Rick told us that he has seen 4 of them over the past couple of weeks.

On Thursday we golfed at Moorland which is a Legends course.  It is very hilly and challenging.  We still had fun, but I think  next time I'd like to try one of their other courses.

We went back to see the Eagles again on Friday.  It was a quiet day and also kind of hazy.  This haze made it very challenging to get a clear in focus and crisp shot which was a little frustrating. We did our best however and got a few.

On Saturday we stayed in as the fog was so thick there wasn't much you could do.  I didn't even walk the beach as it just was not a nice day.  We heard later that John and Grace we able to get out golfing up in North Carolina which was nice for them.  We enjoyed a relaxing day back at the condo.

Sunday turned out to be amazing. 84F in the afternoon so I went out for a walk.  I had shorts on but chose to wear and 3/4 length sleeve tshirt for my walk thinking that it might be cooler by the ocean.  That was a mistake as it was just to hot even for walking by the water.  What crazy weather we are having this winter.  Up and down every day.

A very interesting sky from the condo

Making up for lost time - January 27 - February 2

Monday morning was drab and rainy. The positive part of the rain what that it melted the snow away getting the courses ready to open again.  We took advantage of the quiet day and did a little grocery shopping so we had something to prepare golfing lunches with.

We have scheduled golf for Wednesday (Blackmoor), Thursday (Meadowlands) and Friday (Rivers Edge).

On Tuesday we went to Huntington and walked to the Jetti. I saw the mink for the first time there. It came out while Ralph and I were enjoying lunch at the beach side of the Jetti. I was so excited that I spoke too loudly telling Ralph it was there and scared it into hiding so no photograph was taken.  We had walked here in search of skimmers and ? but we didn't see any. We did however enjoy the pelicans flying by. We later walked to the causeway and stayed only for a short while as there wasn't many birds present.

We finished our week by visiting the Eagles again.  It's always fun seeing them fly around and also seeing how the Eaglet is growing.  We only saw it once as it was very windy and a little cooler. Much to our surprise we saw the two eagle mating.  Are they planning on hatching laying  more eggs?  I love how you see the feather in the air in the below picture.

While we were there a pair of Red Tail Hawks were also flying around.  They were quite high in the sky but it was so beautiful to see the sun reflecting off the red of their feathers.

Sunday morning was pretty overcast, however we were still able to enjoy some  beautiful views from our balcony.

After church I went for a long walk along the beach. My collection of sharks teeth is growing although many of them are small.  Ralph stayed in and worked on our puzzle. It was cooler today but nice for walking.
