Huntington Beach

The morning was very overcast when I woke up.  There wasn't going to be a colourful sunrise.  It was an opportunity to stay in a bed a little longer.

We went together to Huntington Beach for the day.  It was beautiful to walk along causeway and watch the various birds.  This time there were plenty of wood storks, egrets and herons and a few rosey spoonbills.  We also saw what appeared to be a family of osprey.  They were busy fishing and we really enjoyed watching them.

We then went for a walk to the 2nd pond.  Brody had a good eye and spied a few small alligators during our walk.  There were also lots of spiders and frogs.  So cool!!

Sunny Monday

Today was another beautiful day.  Once again Laura was up and joined me outside to photograph the sunrise.  It was a beautiful morning.  We stayed out for about an hour enjoying the morning sun.  After breakfast we separated and the girls went shopping at the Outlet Mall and the boys went out exploring as well.  Lots of deals were found and girls are excited about the new school clothes that they were able to find.

This afternoon was spent at the beach again.  The ocean waves and currents were very strong and as a result we didn't stay there long but slowly ventured to the pool. It was a nice relaxing afternoon.

Laura and Jay enjoyed a date night while Ralph and I took the kids out for ice-cream at Broadway at the Beach.  Brody had lots of fun feeding the carp.  They are so big and gross looking.

It was a fun day filled with new memories.

A day for rest

This morning was a bit cooler than most of the days that we have had. I was up early and found Laura already in the kitchen making coffee. She joined me at the beach and we enjoyed watching the sun come up.  It wasn't much of a sunrise this morning but that's ok,  I enjoyed spending the time with Laura and saw this as a blessing as we don't often have time with just the two of us.

We enjoyed breakfast all together and then went to church.  We enjoyed a good sermon this morning on 1Peter 3:1-7 and I was thankful that we were able to attend and hear the message all together.

After a nice lunch we each went our separate ways and spent the afternoon enjoying some quiet time. I chose to walk along the beach with my camera. Ralph went for a walk along the beach and Laura along with the family spent time at the beach and in the pool.

The day was overcast and pretty windy.  The ocean was quite rough and there were red flags flying at the lifeguard station.  As I was walking along the shore, a rogue wave came up and almost knocked me off my feet.  As it was, I was soaked "waste high" with sand all over me.  I was so surprised but appreciate the warnings that they give to be "cautious" when the ocean is as active as it was.  After that I chose to walk higher on the beach.

I enjoyed my walk and when I came back I saw Jay and Hailey in the ocean enjoying the surf.  They were later joined by Jordan and Brody.  It was fun photographing them.

After dinner we went back to the beach to enjoy the last part of the day.  Ralph, Jay and the kids were jumping off the shelf of sand created by the high surf.  We were all quite shocked as the sand gave way under Ralph's feet and he landed on his back side.  Ouch!!  I think he is going to be quite sore in the morning.
