Mark & Katrina

Yesterday we had the opportunity to share in Mark and Katrina's wedding.  It was an amazing day with the temperature soaring into the high 20's.  It felt like summer.  The wedding was very nice and it was so beautiful to see how happy and in love they are.  Ralph and I pray that the Lord will bless them richly as a newly married couple.

Enjoying the first day of fall

This morning Claudia and I went out to take some fall pictures and went in search of some barns.  I can't believe how beautiful the weather has been and today was just that.  It was like a warm summer day.  We really enjoyed touring around and had fun taking the pictures.

I just love this picture.  It is the pond on Claudia and Chucks property.  The conditions were perfect for a beautiful photograph.

I've always wanted to photograph the horses on the farm by Jane and highway 9.  This time a few were out by the fence so we stopped and shot a few.  This poor fellow had all sorts of burrs in his mane.

I took Claudia to this barn that Ralph and I had seen last Saturday.  The sky was nice and blue today.

I am amazed at how fast the colours are changing.  We hope to go out again to photograph the changing colours of the trees.

The beauty of a mushroom

I've come to realize that I don't take the time to really appreciate everything that is around me.  I'm trying to slow down a little and notice the beauty that God surrounds us with every day.  This morning after giving thanks for the beautiful warm day, I started walking from the back parking lot to the office where I would be spending the morning working.

As I was walking I noticed something unusual in the lawns along the sidewalk of the pathway that I was on.  Mushrooms!!!  There were so many of them.  I thought that was odd considering we haven't had any rain for the past couple of day.  I decided to explore a little further.  There was so many of them popping up all over the place.  I really wished that I had my camera with me.  Thankfully my cell phone takes pretty good pictures so I crouched down and snapped a few.  If I wasn't dressed up in my work clothes I would have gotten down on my hands and knee's on the "wet" ground to get a closer look and picture.  They were so intricate and beautiful  Who would have thought that of a "Mushroom"!!  I think the underground watering system must have broken and run all weekend. 

Loving the fall colours

These past couple of days have been beautiful.  The sun is warm, there is no wind howling and no mosquito's bothering us.  I wish we had more of this weather and that it lasts for another couple of weeks.  When it's like this, I get the itch to get out there with my camera and take pictures.  Yesterday, Claudia and I played a round of golf in the morning and took our cameras with us.  It wasn't that busy at the course so we could take advantage and shoot some photos.  It was fun and we plan to do it again sometime soon.

Early this morning, Ralph and I got up early and went out to the country to take some more pictures. It was so beautiful.  We eventually found our way into the marsh and once again the fog was so thick.  We waited for a while for it to clear and eventually we headed towards Weston Road.  I had seen the above barn yesterday so I thought it would be nice to show it to Ralph. I loved the colours of it.

I am blessed to have Ralph as my husband.  He doesn't mind coning along although I'm sure he would prefer to stay in bed a little longer.

 See how the colours change depending on the time of day that. you are out.  This is known as the golden hour.  It's one of the nicest times to be out with. your camera.

 I loved this fence and could have spent the whole day here trying different things.  Sadly we only stayed for about 15 minutes.

Holland Marsh Beauty

The last couple of days we have seen a change in the weather.  Cooler mornings have arrived with warm Autumn days.  This brings "fog" with it in the low lying areas and it makes beautiful photo's.  On Friday I woke up early as Ralph was getting ready to go to work so I grabbed my camera and tripod and headed north.  I wasn't sure where I was going but knew that I'd find something nice when I got there.  I was excited to see the colour forming in the sky.  It was pretty cool out with the temperature around 6c.  There wasn't as much fog as I was expecting to see, but the sky was starting to show signs that it would be colourful.  It was going to be an amazing sunrise and I wasn't disappointed.  I started looking for a barn that I could use as a foreground shot but couldn't find what I was looking for.  I started to worry that I might miss the most beautiful colours so I drove into the middle of the Holland Marsh.  I set up my tripod and put a very dark neutral density filter on. This allowed me to keep my lens open longer and take advantage of the moving clouds.  I was amazed at how the colour changed in the sky as time progressed.  It really was beautiful.

Ralph and I decided to go out again on Saturday morning.  It was really cold for the first weekend of September.  The temperature was sitting at 2c.  Ralph was well equipped with gloves to keep warm.  I wasn't that smart.  By the time we had finished taking pictures my hands were frozen and I could hardly feel my fingers.  I was so surprised at how cold it was.  There was a very heavy fog.  So heavy that we could hardly see in front of us.  While driving (we went to the Marsh again) we could see that it was going to be a beautiful sunrise.  In the Marsh with the heavy fog we couldn't see a thing.  We weren't sure how our photos would turn out and were pleasantly surprised when we developed them.
