Getting ready to leave

For the past week I have been enjoying watching the baby robins grow. I"m amazed at how quickly  they have grown and am sad that they will be soon leaving.  I expect that it might be in a day or so where I will find the nest empty. I'm not really sure.  This is the first time that I have ever really studied their activities.

Does anyone know if baby birds lay eggs?  I know it's an odd question to ask but the mother is constantly taking something out of the nest that looks like eggs. I was able to capture it on film but would be interested if anyone knows anything about this?  I tried researching this on line and couldn't find any information.

The mother flies continuously back and forth feeding her young.

It's getting a little crowded here

Instruction from Mom

Apparently this is very unusual that the male takes part in feeding the young.  It was really nice to see.

Here is the baby releasing what looks like an egg.  Mom  then takes it away from the nest.

I also had a visit from a Cardinal while I was in the backyard. This is one of my favourite birds.

Patience Rewarded

Yesterday I had so much fun watching the birds flying back and forth to the birdhouse that I decided to spend some time photographing them again today.  It requires a lot of patience and some skill of which I lack in both areas.

After the evening service, I talked to Ed Abano.  Ed is very experienced in nature photography and I thought he might be able to tell me what I was doing wrong.  He was more than willing to give me  a few pointers of which I am very thankful.  It certainly helped me capture a few that weren't all blurry. I had so much fun.  It's very addictive sitting and watching them fly back and forth.

It was really funny to watch these two birds trying to get all this nesting material inside.  They were so determined.

New condo

Hey honey, I hear that there's a new condo in the neighbourhood.  Should we check it out?

I don't know... I' pretty happy with where I live now.  Oh come on,  it won't hurt to take a peek!!

What about all the different birds in the neighbourhood.  Do you think we'll fit in?

Oh don't worry about them. I'm sure they won't be an issue.  Let's just have a peek inside and see what it looks like.

Are you coming or am I doing this alone?

I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Oh wow!!! I love this place.

When can we move in??

Quick get some twigs and grass.  I love the neighbourhood!!
