A visit with Jay and Laura

I had to go to work in London for a couple of days so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to visit with Jay and Laura and the girls. I drove down on Wednesday morning very early for my meeting. It went till almost 6:30 which wasn't very nice, but Laura said that the ate dinner late so that would be ok. The girls were still up when I got there so we spent about 1/2 hour together. It is so amazing how quickly they are growing. Hailey is almost 6 months now and she weights 16 lbs. Jordan is quite a going concern. She talks so much and is starting to form sentences. It's really cute to here her. Laura was saying that she tripped on the table and said ouch and Jordan came up to her and said what happened mummy? So cute... We were making support and she was saying that she wanted supper too, even though she had already eaten...I guess she was still hungry.

I bought this tent from Enza our neighbour who was having a garage sale. It is so cute. You can fill it up with balls, or leave empty but it's alot of fun for the kids to play in. Laura said that all the kids from the daycare enjoyed it on Thursday. It takes up a good part of the room and I expect that she will one day put it outside, but for now it's tucked into part of the kitchen and part of the dining room.

Laura and I are still both knitting away. I'm very proud of how well Laura has picked it up. A few mistakes here and there, but nothing serious and she is learning very quickly. I suspect she will have her first pair of legging done before I do. I'll bring them back with me next week (yes I have to go to London again) and we'll see how well they fit Hailey. The yarn I am using is a bit heavier than the one Laura is using so that will make them nice when she goes outside.

I may have to go back to London again at the end of October. That would be fun as the meeting is scheduled for Halloween so I could be there and help give out the candy while Laura and Jay take Jordan out. I could stay and have a birthday breakfast with Laura before going home. We'll have to see if that works out.

Family Golf

The day started off a little cooler than expected but it turned out to be a beautiful day. We went golfing with 11 of us and had a wonderful time. The teams were mixed and we even played a short game of team ball. Unfortunately after the first 4 holes - 2 of three teams had already lost their ball. What fun to see how competetive everyone was.

We had a bbq at Harry and Marian's and they spoiled us with roasted chicken and herbs. It was very delicious. We always enjoy our time together with the family.

It's a beauty

My Toad Lilly is just starting to bloom. I thought I would post a picture for you to see. It's very pretty and because the fall is so warm we can still enjoy the flowers when we're outside.

Knitting again

Well, Laura did it!! She has me knitting again. It's been years since I put wool to the needle. She sent me a pattern and gave me wool and needles on Saturday. I'm knitting leggings/pants for Hailey. It's a good idea actually as you can make them to fit her narrow waist.

So all day Sunday, I knit. One side it finished!! I'll start the other side this evening. These are going to be nice and warm. They sure knit up fast.

St Jacobs

Today we went to St Jacobs. It was a cool day, but we still had fun. We met Jay and Laura and the girls at 8:30 for breakfast at the Stone Crock Restaurant. Mmmmm it was good. Amy Koerson joined us for the day as well.

The market was very busy. We were surprised!! You could hardly move. Tonight we are taking Jay out for dinner to a restaurant in St Thomas called the Beanery. Sounds interesting. It was a pretty chilly day. On our drive we saw two rainbows. They were beautiful.

Four!!

On Saturday, September 7, we golfed as a foursome in a tournament in Fergus!! What a fun time we had. The day started off blustery and cold but it warmed up nicely. We met some really nice people from Bruce and Ingrids church. We had a great lunch and enjoyed the prize ceremony. We even came in first place as "mixed couples". That was a pleasant surprise.

Labour Day Weekend

We enjoyed a very busy Labour Day weekend. The weather started off a little cool but gradually warmed up as the weekend progressed. Frank brought me two buckets full of dirt for the garden (to be specific, one was manure and the other was compost). I had enough left over to extend one of my gardens so I have lots of room for new plants in the spring. Anyone interesting in getting rid of cuttings that do well in the shade, just let me know and I'll take them. We enjoyed a nice dinner at John and Barb's this weekend to celebrate the addition of their new awning that Ed, Ralph and others help to build this summer. During this dinner we decided that this would become a summer event and we would enjoy a potluck together. The dinner was a delicious meal of Pasta with John's homemade sauce, garlicky Caesar salad and warm buns. The wine was free flowing and everything was delicious.

Oakley surprised us all by showing how strong he is when he pulled the wagon with a full jug of water on it, all the way to the trailer. And he did this while running along side Ralph. He wasn't tired at all!!!

Early Monday morning, (6:00 a.m.) Christine and I joined the Photography club - something new that we are starting in the park, to take pictures of the sunrise and mist over the water. The sunrise was very pretty, but there was no steam. Later we were pleasantly surprised by seeing a Paleated Woodpecker. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good shot because I had the wrong lens on my camera. Oh well, there is always next year.

We closed up the trailer for the season but are looking forward to many warm days next year.
