Day 1 - Man O War

The temperature was a nice 64 degree's and we were up bright and early - ready to hit the ball. We were the first group to tee off this morning. It took a few holes to shake the stiffness. It was a perfect day for the first game and the course was in amazing shape.

We have a friendly competition called Closest to the Pin. The rules are as follow:

1. Count the results of the the Par 3 holes - track who is closest to the pin for each hole
2. Count for the 5 courses
3. Person will the greatest number of closest to the pin wins $100.00 and the trophy
4. No mulligans for this hole

Each of us was really pumped for this little competition. The skills of everyone were well honed this summer and competition was fierce on the first day. Watch closely as the results get posted daily.

Exploring Charleston

We got up early this morning anticipation of visiting Charleston for the day. We enjoyed a nice early breakfast at the Sea Captains house and then pointed the 4 Runner south and headed to this historical city.

We listened to a nice sermon from Pastor Rand during our ride down and arrived in Charleston around 10:00 a.m. It was a beautiful and warm day. I would venture to say that the temperature was in the mid 70's. There was a call for rain, but it stayed dry and during there were periods of sunshine as well.

We walked through the historical market and then took a walking tour which took most of the afternoon. How fun was that? We had a map that had 100 places of history on it to visit. We saw about 75% of them. Everything from the Slave Market Museum where the slaves were sold to the City Hall, historical houses and even a Gun Powder Storage location. We took a lot of pictures. What we found really neat was the different doorways and knockers. They were quite interesting...

It was an awesome day! Charleston is really beautiful and worthy of a much more lengthy stay. We're getting pretty excited about our day tomorrow. We're golfing at the Man O War golf course. It's about a 30 minute drive from our condo.

We made it!!!

We're here!! We arrived at 8:05 p.m. The drive was pretty good and it was nice to see the weather gradually get warmer. We made a stop in Salem, North Carolina and visited the total Wine Store. What a big place with lots of variety. We have a good supply for the week. We enjoyed dinner at Carrabbas before heading off to our Condo.

The temperature reached as high at 81 degree's. Awesome!! Check in was nice and smooth and now we comfortably sitting in our room, enjoying a glass of wine and beer and watching Marley and me.

Well it's almost 11:00 p.m. and we're in Washington Pennysylvania. It was a rainy and wet drive so far. The roads have been surprisingly quiet although there is lots of construction along the way. Our hotel (The Hampton) is very nice. We're goingto enjoy a nice glass of wine/beer and then go down for a nice sleep. The temperature is warming up as we drive. It's now 61 degree's F. When we stopped in Cranberry, Penn., the boys wanted to buy some beer. That was an interesting experience. We ended up buying a 6 pack at the Pizza Hut. You could even go through the drive through to get it. We thought that was pretty funny...

Golfing for Timothy

Yesterday Wilf and I had the opportunity to represent Timothy Christian School at the Glenn Eagle Customer appreciation day in a Scramble tournament. It was a fun day and the tournament was well run. Each group was given a "fantasy" golf card along with a regular car to keep track of their scores. On each hole you were required to scratch one of 4 dots to get a number and at the end of the game, this was your team number. We scored a 94 in that game. Our team-mates were Robert and Daniel - two interesting people from Croatia. It was a fun day.

I thought I would post the weather forecast for Myrtle Beach and then compare when we return. Looks like it should be pretty nice don't you think. Certainly better than the rainy, damp weather we've been having...

God Bless you Andrew and Emily

On Saturday we enjoyed a lovely evening with the family and friends and enjoyed a Jack and Jill event hosted in honor of Andrew and Emily and their upcoming wedding. It's hard to believe that in a few weeks they will be married!! The Jack and Jill was held at their home with Robert and Kristen hosting the event. It was fun and the weather wasn't too bad either. Considering all the rain we had during the day, it was nice that it stopped in the evening and you were able to spend time outside as well as inside.
