Indian Wells Golf - water everywhere

Today we played Indian Wells Golf Course.  This is the first time we have played here and I really enjoyed the course.  It sure was challenging with plenty of water on it (14 holes all have water).  It's a narrow course that is very interesting and challenging.  Sadly this property has been sold for development and will be closing in December.  That's too bad as I would have liked to play here again.

They had beautiful gardens on the course with many flowers in bloom.

Today was another hot day with the temperature reaching 36 Celsius.  It didn't feel that hot though as I found that the humidity wasn't quite as bad as it was yesterday.  The squirrels still found it pretty hot though as we observed this little guy just lazing around, too tired to be chasing the other squirrels.

There were plenty of birds on the course and Teresa and I saw an Eagle and a Hawk as well.  That was pretty cool!!

We came back to the condo later in the afternoon and enjoyed some time relaxing.  I've started a new book and it was nice to read with the breezes from the ocean blowing.  Every once in a while I stopped to photograph the Osprey.  This time the bird was soaring on the air currents right in front of our room.  That was so cool.  We finished our day with a treat from Ben and Jerry's.  What a treat!!

Legends - Moorland - toughest course ever!

Today we played at the Legends - Moorland Course.  I have never played such a difficult course.  it didn't help that the temperature reached 34c and it was crazy humid.  The holes were very challenging and if you didn't land it solid on the green the ball kept going and went down into a valley very far below the green.  Sometimes it took me an additional 2 shots to get back onto the green.  The course was very busy as well.  This is one of those places that offer breakfast, lunch and drinks as part of your golf package.  Its a favourite of the locals.  Lunch was enjoyable, we were advised to order off the menu rather than going to the buffet.  It was a good recommendation.

At one of the holes these turtles climbed up the bank towards us.  We're sure that they were looking for food. 

Keeping out the sun!!  The best place to stay cool was in the golf cart.

This evening we went to the Wicked Tuna which is our favourite restaurant in Murrells Inlet.They didn't disappoint.  The catch of the day was grouper and it was amazing.  Ours dinners melted in our mouths.  It was the perfect way to end the day.

Eagles Nest - the Eagle has landed

Today we golfed at Eagles Nest.  This course is almost directly across the street from Glen Dornoch.  We had been told by others that it was a nice course to play so we thought we would give it a try.  I was all prepared to photograph an Eagle. I had my zoom lens with me and ready to go.  When I asked about the Eagle I was advised that it was no longer there as the nest was destroyed by one of the previous hurricanes.  Awe, I was so disappointed as I hoped to see one today.  Oh well!

We were only at the 2nd or third hole when I spied a "King Fisher".  Oh wow - that's almost as nice as seeing an Eagle.  This little guy was busy preparing a nest I think.  So cool!!

The course was really quite pretty with mangroves throughout.  It would be perfect to sit and sketch and I thought of Arja as we were playing.  I think she would have really enjoyed it.

The Osprey continue to amuse us at the end of the day.  The people on the beach are totally oblivious to them.

Glen Dornoch revisited

Today we golfed at the Glen Dornoch course which we had played in January.  It was another beautiful day where the temperature reached about 33c.  The pace of play today was really nice as well and it felt good not feeling like we were being rushed.  Its a very scenic course and there are some pretty challenging holes.  It was a fun day.

Sadly today Lawrence lost his "game ball" leaving me as the only one left with a ball.  I still had to play my ball, but took care to not overhit it.  I almost lost it though as my drive went off to the left but I was lucky to find it still.  It was a fun competition. We're going to have to plan another one for the rest of week as this one ended much quicker than we anticipated.

Once again we were entertained by the Osprey.  It is so awesome to see them fly so close to our balcony.

I spent some time by the beach while Ralph was at the gym and Teresa and Lawrence were down by the pool.  The ocean is still really quite warm and it feels so good to walk in the water looking for shells.  The ocean itself has been really calm these past couple of days so there isn't a lot of shells to be found but I did manage to find a few.  Ralph added to the collection as well after he took his walk along the beach.  What a perfect way to spend the day.
