Today we played in the rain. The after effects of Tropical Storm Karen are still in the area. It wasn't a hard downpour but enough to make you cold and damp. The temperature dropped to 59F so it was a little chilly. We enjoyed our round - although I will say that I played terrible today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. We drove to Market Commons in the evening and enjoyed dinner at Gordan Biersch. This is a micro brewery. Their food is delicious.
While in the Common's - we went into Williams and Sonoma and I bought a cheese making kit. This winter I plan to make my own Mozzerella cheese. I've been trying to get this kit in Canada unsuccessully so I'm quite pleased that I was able to find it here.
Ralph and Grace have been happily married for 45 years and currently reside in Dutton, Ontario. We have a beautiful daughter Laura who is married to Jason Van Meppelenscheppink. Jason and Laura have three beautiful children (Jordan, Hailey and Brody) and they currently live in St. Thomas. This blog is about our lives and how richly we have been blessed.

Members Course - Grand Dunes
We woke to a beautiful and warm morning. There was rain in the forecast for today. We are receiving some of the tail end of Tropical Storm Karen. We were blessed with a beautiful rainbow first thing as we were arriving at the course. It was quiet on the course - we saw only two other sets of golfers so the round was at a nice pace - no rushing. Ralph had an amazing game and shot a 79. Not bad for someone who only had a few hours of sleep. He had to work late last night and didn't get to bed before 2:30. Needless to say he was pretty happy. During our round it started to rain and by the last two holes it poured. The afternoon was spent relaxing. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Gulfstream Cafe. They make the most amazing SheCrab soup. We had fun playing cards in the evening. We haven't done that for a long time and it was great. Ralph won the first prize for the week - which was the "least number of bunker shots". We have a total of 5 competitions this week.

A beautiful day
Sumday was a beautiful and relaxing day. We drove to Charleston today but our plans were changed slightly as there was some rain. We had planned to go to Boone Plantation but thought it wouldn't be nice for walking after the rain so instead we enjoyed a leisurely lunch at Sesame Burger and then returned home to our condo. We enjoyed a stroll along the beach while Ralph did his work. In the evening we enjoyed a nice movie with Drew Barrymore called - Big Miracle.

First day of golf
The day started out foggy but it wasn't enough to stop us from teeing off at 8:00 a.m. We were playing at Tradition Golf Course. It's a nice course with lots of bunkers but we all had a lot of fun.
It got really hot as the morning progressed and it was quite muggy as well. We finished our round by 12:30ish. For lunch - we decided to go to Grilled Cheese and Crab Co. in Garden City Beach which is just on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach. Our lunch was amazing. Ralph and I have been here before and the food is amazing.
We spent some quiet time afterwards at our condo. Some (Teresa and Ralph) caught up on some needed sleep while we (Lawrence and I) puttered around.
This evening we went to See Loretta Lynn. She was amazing for someone who is 83 years old. She still sings so well and her energy level was very high. It was a fun concert.

I woke up early this morning at 3:30. I felt really refreshed so I was surprised to see how early it was. I went back to bed as I didn't think anyone else would want to get up this early. As a result we didn't wake up until almost 7:00. We were on the road by 7:30 and arrived in Myrtle Beach around 4:30. The weather here is amazing and nice and warm. After unpacking we went and visited the local golf store (PGA Superstore) and then went out for dinner at Pier 14. Dinner was delicious - the seafood (Grouper) that I had melted in your mouth. We finished the evening by doing our grocery shopping so we are all set for the week. Tomorrow we are golfing at Tradition. We're looking forward to a fun day.Thursday, 3 October 2013
On the road again
It's that time of year again, where we make our annual trip down to Myrtle Beach. We were able to leave on time today and the driving went very well. We left at 12:30 and was ahead of the afternoon rush. Driving later in the day - after 5:00 p.m. the roads were completely empty. It was a great drive. We're currently staying in the Hampton in Summersville, West Virginia. We arrived here around 9:15 so we have a good piece of our driving out of the way. It's a nice feeling to know that we'll be in Myrtle Beach sometime tomorrow afternoon. The weather has been nice for the drive. We had a little bit of rain, but not much and the temperature is around 70F. The forecasted weather for the next week is in the mid to high 80's. You can't complain about that. We're looking forward to a fun week.
