Home again

Well we're home again. On Saturday I went to the hospital and had my ankle xrayed. No broken bones I'm happy to report, but they wanted me to come back on Sunday for an Ultra Sound to check for blood clots. Good news here as well - blood clots, but they are concerned by the swelling in my andle so they are sending me to an orthopaedic clinic on January the 18th. In the meantime they want me to get a walking boot but wouldn't you know it, these are on back order. Ah well, I'll just see how it goes. It's still swollen but I keep it elevated as much as I can.

We came home to have lots of work done by Bernie. He finished the trim around the stairs and trimmed off 11 windows for us. I'm so happy, they look great. He also put some cove moulding up for us in the front hall which allows us to finally paint this area as well. Today after work I primed the 3 windows in our kitchen. I can't wait to get the paint on. It's my goal to have all the windows painted in the next two to three weeks. We'll see if I meet that goal. Tomorrow I'll try to put the first coat of paint on the kitchen windows and then I'll move to the bathroom upstairs. I'd really like to get all the walls painted in the bedrooms, living room, dining room, hallways and kitchen before the summer this year. It's a big task but I'll tackle it one room at a time. I may look to see if I can hire someone to paint the walls. I have most of the paint already. We'll see as I don't mind painting and you can do a room in an evening, or on a Saturday. We'll see how busy Ralph and I get.

Ankle update

The drive home hasn't been agreeing with my ankle. I guess I need to keep it elevated. When we get home I plan to go get it x ray'd as it's swelling up quite badly. I can't get a shoe on my foot so I wear one sandal and one shoe... Geeky eh!!

Homeward bound Day 2

It was a white knuckle day to day. We left Savannah and the temperature was around 39F. It quickly dropped into the low 30's. We had snow on the ground by the time we reached North Carolina and blowing snow once we reached Virginia. It snowed for a good portion of our trip. We perservered and drove to Washington Penn. We got here around 9:15 and went to dinner at Applebee's. We're now at the hotel and hope to relax and sleep in and head for the final stretch tomorrow.

Homeward Bound

Hello everyone, we spent a fun day yesterday and today with Chuck and Claudia. We left around 1:00 p.m. and headed towards Savannah. We thought we would try to get to Paula Dean's restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately the restaurant closed at 9:00 and we got there at 9:06.... Oh well, next time we'll know better... We ended up eating at a Pasta Restaurant which was amazing. It was called Pastachinni. Wow the food was amazing. I had the most succulent Rizzoto that I have ever eaten with lump crab meat and Ralph had a Spagettini with mixed Seafood which was very flavourful. It was so good. We're at the Hampton Inn now right in the Heart of Savannah. What a nice area.

Yesterday we golfed in the afternoon with Chuck and Claudia - it was very cold, the wind was blowing quite strongly but it wasn't enough to stop us!! We went to a restaurant called Bone-Fish for dinner last night. Yummy... We all had the Chillean Sea Bass, done in different ways. Very good and tender. I would highly recommend it.

My golfing has been pretty consistent this holiday with most of my games below 100 and Ralph too has played amazing. Our golfing lessons have certainly paid off!!

We're on our way home now. We'll take our time. They aren't calling for good weather so well see what we encounter along the way. They are calling for rain/snow tonight in Savannah if you can believe that. It's pretty funny weather this year.
