Glenn Eagle - enjoying a day at the course

Teresa and Lawrence were given a complimentary round and dinner at Glenn Eagle Golf course. So we all took the afternoon off today and went golfing. It was warm, but overcast and we had a little rain, but nothing to put a damper on our day. It was fun. My game wasn't the greatest, but that's not important. It's the sharing of time all together. We had a delicious dinner all together as well. Thanks Teresa and Lawrence, it was a great day !!!

Family Golf

The day was sunny and a little cool but it looked like we were going to have an awesome family golf day. Unfortunately there was a frost delay, which resulted in our starting 1.5 hours later. It didn't stop us though and we had an awesome day all together. We enjoyed a nice bbq in the evening and handed out the trophies for Longest drive, Closest to the pin, Mens and Women's low net. Matthew took the honor's for longest drive, Teresa was closest the pin and Ralph and I enjoyed the Low net honors. I love this day all together with the family.

My pumpkin

This summer I planted pumpkins and zuchini's. I didn't have a lot of success with the zuchini's which I'm disappointed with. I had visions of giving them away to my friends and family, but unfortunately I only got 3 from 4 plants and only 1 plant gave me the 3. So, I pulled out the "barren" plants to provide room for my other plant to grow and I might be lucky to get 1 more before the fall sets in.

The same held true for my pumpkins. I had lots of flowers, but no fruit on the vine to speak of. At one point I saw a small pumpkin start, but I think it fell off and rotted. Another one has started and I'm babying it and protecting it behind my air conditioner. I figure that way it will be warm, protected from too much rain and it still gets the sunshine it needs. Hopefully it will be ready for Halloween...

Dress for the wedding

Before you know it, Andrew's wedding will be here. Since I've lost about 14 lbs, I decided to treat myself to a new dress for the wedding. I think it's really beautiful. I'm a bit worried however about the temperature as with October you really never know what to expect!!

I went to see a tailor yesterday and she recommended some fabric stores downtown to look at to buy material for a shawl to be made. What an adventure. I went to the Fashion district downtown where all the fabric stores are. It was amazing!! So much to choose from. I ended up buying a Silkchiffon blend which is grey with a hint of red (but you only see the red if you are standing a certain way). We tried all sorts of grey to see what would go well, but in the end we agreed that the grey with the red added a style of elegance so that's what I got.
I then went to the tailor and she's going to make my shawl. She agreed's it will be very nice with the dress. I was a bit worried, as Ralph wasn't with me, so, I hope he likes it!!

At the same time, I brought in my "blue dress" that I wore to Devon's wedding. I really loved that dress but Mr. Oakley also seemed to develop a fondness for it and much to my chagrin, decided to jump up on me and caught his nail in the netting which was part of the dress. The tailor is going to redesign the dress a little to "cover up" the tear which will allow me to get more wear out of it.

Jordan's first day of school

Can you believe it! Jordan is old enough to go to school!! I can't believe that time has gone by so quickly that she is already old enough for this. A special thank you to Laura for sharing these pictures. She looks so beautiful and grown up!! Where does the time go?

My Mom & Dad

Today we visited with my Mom and Dad. For those who don't know, Mom had hip replacement surgery almost 2 weeks ago. She is doing really well. Dad has been awesome looking after her and keeping the apartment clean. I'm amazed at how well he is doing and so proud of the fact that he does this. Without the pressure of having a messy apartment, I'm sure that Mom is resting.

It's hard sometimes to sit by and see Mom not up and around doing things and fussing over us. We're so used to seeing her being a take charge person although with her hip issues, she has slowed down the last couple of years. I'll feel much better when I see her up and about again.

We both love Mom and Dad very much and hope that they will still be with us for many more years. The Lord has certainly blessed them and we looking forward to spending our time with them.

Shower for Emily

On Friday we had a surprise shower for Emily. Marian thought that she might have some idea, but she sure was surprised to see her sisters and Mom amongst everyone that was there. It was nice to see how excited she was. The shower was really fun. Marian, Kristen and Karen did a great job!!
