Annual Family Golf event

What a great day.... the rain held off until we were at the last hole and then it only drizzled. The family came out to play the 2008 annual golf tournament. What a pleasant surprise to have Sandra, Kelli, Jamie and Matthew playing with us. In total there was 15 golfers. Debbie joined the girls and we're hoping that we'll be able to convince Janice to join us next year. It was alot of fun. Teresa took the trophies this year for the ladies. She had a blinding drive right down the right side of the fairway. It was impossible for others to achieve the same results. Jim and Ralph were almost tied for the men's longest drive, however Ralph edged him out by about a yard. Woman's closest to the pin honors when to Linda who had an outstanding hit that almost resulted in a hole in one. Regrettably she ousted Kelli who also had an amazing drive. Way to go Kelli!! Of the guy's Jim was the closest, but unfortunately we only had one winner and Linda took the away. The women certainly did well this time around.

After the game, we retired to Jim and Deb's house for a nice evening filled with wine and food and good company. The rain held off until 9:30 which allowed for us to enjoy the warm weather outside. It was a great day!

It's good to finally know...

Last Friday I was told that I still have my job... Phew, it's nice to finally know. Things are so up in the air right now that it's very confusing knowing who is doing what. I'm sure in a couple of weeks I'll have an idea of what my job will be, but for now I'm in a cloud. I'll just keep plugging away until I find out more..

Happy birthday Yolande and Linda

What a beautiful day Saturday turned out to be. We spent a couple of hours enjoying each others company at Yolande and Henry's house. The kids were able to enjoy the pool as we sat around and chatted. We later on took some nice photo's together by their tree. This was done to help Linda and Homer get some family pic's for their newly painted hallway. We sure had fun!!

A friendly round of Golf

Saturday morning was bright and sunny. Great - it's going to be a beautiful day for golf!! Ralph, Ron, Anne and I headed to Glenway in the early afternoon for a round.... The girls played Best ball while Ralph and Ron played their regular game. We had a lot of fun...It certainly was a beautiful afternoon to enjoy.

Summer is nearing it's end

Well it's been a long and interesting summer. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the trailer for any period of time. This weekend we hope to go up and close things down and hope and pray that next year will be better.

Oakley is mending from his surgery. You can see that it will take a long time If he does anything too much he looses his appetite and sleeps alot. I'm sure it's all pain related.

The deck is almost finished! It looks awesome and certainly extends our living area. We're really happy with it.

Oakley's home

On Saturday morning we were able to pick Oakley up from the vet. What a surprise we saw when he hobbled out on 3 legs. No cast, no collar..... He such a good little dog we were told. He's not interested at all in chewing his leg, so lets leave it like this for the next little while and see how he does. He has a surgical incision that is about 6 inches long on his leg, which has been shaven for the surgery. The stitches are internal so it's a very clean looking cut. He also has a bald patch on the back of his neck and front leg where they had the pain patch and intervenous.

We were told that he learned very quickly how to get by on three legs and hobbles very fast. Why aren't we surprised!!

We have him home now for 3 days. He licks his front leg a little and Ralph has been putting Vitamin E on it so it's doing ok. He show's no interest at all in the back let. At times he is putting pressure on the back leg, although they told us not to expect him to even start to toe touch for about 3 weeks. He is very restricted now. The kitchen door has to be left closed and we have a gate by the stairs. Fortunately for us, he's a little intimidated by the gate so he stays away from the stairs right now.

Eating is becoming a real challenge. He's turning his nose up to everything. He won't eat his kibble, and even shows little interest at times for chicken although when given a bowl of chicken and rice, he manages to pull out only the meat and leaves the rest. Forget feeding him veggies as he is strictly a carnivor...along with cookies of course.

We're happy that he's on the road to recovery. It will be a long haul. They've told us to expect it to be about 4 months before he has his full mobility back. He's not allowed to do stairs for 3 months (end of October).

It's been an interesting summer.

Oakley Update

Well finally after almost 2 months, Oakley has had his surgery. Today at 12:30 they operated on his leg to repair the torn tendon. I called at 3:30 and was told that he was still sleeping soundly and they expected him to stay that way for a while. This is a good thing as it will keep him from trying to walk on it.

Now the fun starts. 8 weeks of recovery. Next week we're on vacation. We'll pick up Oakley on Saturday and we'll learn how to teach him to walk and how to keep him relaxed so that he doesn't put any pressure on the leg until it's ready and healed somewhat.

I'm thankful that it's finally happened.
